The Australian Lions Wellbeing Foundation (ALWF) is delighted to see Lions Clubs International officially recognise mental health and wellbeing as a new global service initiative for 2025–2026. The initiative will include a dedicated awareness week from 4–12 October 2025, which aligns with Mental Health Week in Australia.

As a Foundation, we are passionate about improving and supporting the wellbeing of individuals and communities—and have been for over three decades,” said an ALWF Chair, David Daniels. “To see this focus now recognised on a global scale is not only encouraging, it’s a powerful step forward for Lions around the world.”

Clubs across Australia and internationally are encouraged to hold events during this week to help break stigma, share support, and engage their communities in mental health and wellbeing initiatives.

Taking care of our wellbeing is essential because it affects your:

  • Overall health

  • Happiness and life satisfaction

  • Resilience

  • Positive impact on others

ALWF will be preparing a suite of resources, project ideas, and promotional tools to help Lions clubs take action during this global service initiative awareness week.

As your dedicated Australian Lions Wellbeing Foundation, we’re here to support your club in making a real impact on this vital issue.

ALWF to Participate in Lions International Convention Wellbeing Panel

Mental health and wellbeing will also be a key focus at the upcoming Lions International Convention in Orlando this July, with keynote speaker Michael Phelps—Olympic legend and globally recognised mental health advocate—sharing his powerful story and insights.

We are delighted to announce that our Foundation has been selected to participate in a dedicated Mental Health and Wellbeing panel at the convention—a proud moment for both the Foundation and Lions Australia.
