ROAR FOR WELLBEING

SUPPORTING THE LIONS INTERNATIONAL MENTAL HEALTH & WELLBEING SERVICE INITIATIVE

Join Lions across Australia in promoting positive mental health and wellbeing in your community.

This October, during Mental Health Month, the Australian Lions Wellbeing Foundation is leading a nationwide campaign to support the Lions International Service Initiative: Mental Health & Wellbeing with our campaign Roar for Wellbeing.

Whether your club is large or small, city-based or regional, you can play a vital role in raising awareness, encouraging connection, and supporting positive mental health and wellbeing in your community.

By hosting an event – big or small – you’ll help create awareness, education, and advocacy for mental health and wellbeing, while showing your community that Lions care.

Hearts and Hands Community Day

This event is designed to address key issues impacting our local community: mental health challenges, loneliness, and social isolation. By opening our Lions Den, we aim to create a safe and welcoming space where people of all ages can come together, build connections, and access support.

The day will feature a community BBQ lunch alongside baked goods and treats, encouraging social interaction over shared meals. Local stallholders, including community members with handmade goods, will be invited to participate, providing both engagement opportunities and support for small businesses.

A dedicated wellbeing focus will include stalls offering mental health information, local referral pathways, and resources, ensuring that attendees leave with both emotional uplift and practical support. Activities are planned to foster inclusion and participation, including outdoor games in the park opposite the Den, indoor board games, and family-friendly activities such as lucky dips and face painting.

By blending fun, food, and wellbeing resources, this event aims to lift community spirits, reduce isolation, and strengthen social bonds. It reflects Lions’ ongoing commitment to service and the belief that by bringing people together, we can promote resilience, inclusion, and positive mental health outcomes for all.
