Social Connection
We are wired for social connection. Genuine belonging actively protects our health — and Lions clubs are uniquely placed to provide it.
Anxiety
Anxiety is not a sign of weakness. It is the brain doing its job — just a little too well. Understanding it is the first step to managing it.
Tricky Conversations
Conflict in clubs is normal. Letting it fester is optional. The RESOLVE model offers a practical framework for navigating difficult conversations.
Identity in Later Life
Who are you, when the roles fall away? A stable, positive identity in later life is one of the strongest predictors of health and wellbeing.
Motivation
Motivation is not a personality trait. It's something that can be lost — and rebuilt. Understanding how dopamine works is the first step.
Sleep
Poor sleep is not just tiredness. It changes everything — mood, memory, patience, and physical health. Most sleep problems can be improved.
Movement
Movement is medicine. And the dose is smaller than you think. Regular moderate movement is one of the most powerful things we can do for our health.
Nutrition
What we eat shapes how we think, feel, and function — at every age. Nutrition in later life is not about dieting. It's about giving your body what it needs.
About This Series
Lions Clubs bring together people of different backgrounds, united by a shared commitment to service. But thriving as a member — not just serving — matters deeply to the long-term health and vitality of every club.
This series was developed by the Australian Lions Wellbeing Foundation in partnership with Andrew Fuller, one of Australia's leading clinical psychologists. It draws on the latest research in wellbeing, neuroscience, and ageing to offer practical, evidence-based guidance for Lions members and club leaders.
Each factsheet is free to read, download, and share with your club.
The RESOLVE Model
The Tricky Conversations factsheet draws on the RESOLVE framework — a practical model for navigating difficult conversations, developed by Andrew Fuller for use in community and workplace settings.
